Hey Y’all! We are excited to be participating in the 25 Days of Christmas series with sweet Cheryl from That’s What Che Said…
There are so many great projects so far, and you will definitely want to follow along to catch all 25 Christmas projects!
We are excited to share our Christmas project with you today, Faux Chalk Christmas Tags…
Oh how I love anything chalk and chalkboard. I wanted to create some cute Christmas tags that looked like chalk images, but I did not want them smear. My solution was to create these adorable Faux Chalk Christmas Tags.
I love that these look so much like chalk images, but here is a secret…they are paint! Yep! Which means, no smearing!
These were so quick and easy to create. You could craft dozens of these in no time. So let’s get started….
Supplies Needed for Faux Chalk Christmas Tags…
- Plain Black Tags { similar ones HERE }
- Rubber Stamps of Choice { these are from Hobby Lobby }
- DecoArt Cottonball Multi Surface Satin Paint
- Foam Paint Brush
- Hole Punch
- Red and White Baker’s Twine
Step One:
Apply a thin layer of paint to the back of the rubber stamp, using the foam paint brush. Make sure you cover the entire stamp. Place the stamp on the black tag, centering the stamp on the tag. Apply even pressure over the stamp and lift off gently from the black tag. Clean the paint off of your rubber stamp and pat stamp dry. HINT: I also tried this using a white ink pad, but did not like how faded it was. The paint gives it a much darker finish.
Step Two:
Once the tags are completely dry, simply punch a hole in the black tag. Cut a piece of red and white baker’s twine and loop it through the punched hole. Allow enough length to tie it to a special gift or even the Christmas Tree!
These are just amazing, don’t you think? I think I will use a chalk pen to add the little “to” and “from” on the back of each tag. My head is just spinning with possibilities for different stamps to use, and all the different holidays I could make these for!
If you love making special Christmas tags, you just have to see our adorable DIY Reindeer and Snowman Thumbprint Tags. They are so simple and such a great idea to do with your family. Once you make your tags, you could all sit down and write your Letters To Santa, and we have a super sweet free Letter to Santa Printable for you to use!
Merry Christmas!
