Ok folks…ready or not, the cooler weather is on the way. Around our home, those chilly nights are the perfect time for snuggling up in your jammies and watching a good movie. What goes better with that than a mug of yummy hot chocolate? Yea, it is the best!
We don’t get a lot of snow around here, so this year, we are bringing the snow inside. I made these simple and cute, DIY Snowflake Mugs for our family. If we can not have the real thing, we can dream of it while sipping away a mug of yumminess, right?
Yummo! A little bit of winter wonderland right in your own home! This project is super simple, and requires 2 supplies, yep that is it! A perfect idea for a neighbor or teacher. Let’s get started….

Supplies Needed…
1. Clear Glass Mug { I picked these up at my local dollar store }
2. DecoArt Glass Paint Marker in White
_______________
Now the fun begins! I simply googled snowflakes to look at some basic images for inspiration. Remember, no two snowflakes are alike.
Have fun drawing the snowflakes on the mug. The DecoArt Glass Paint Markers are so easy to work with.
Simply, follow the directions on the package to get the marker started. They cover really well and do not run.
Once I had all my snowflakes painted onto the mug { I drew four on my mug }, I added little dots so that they would appear to be “drifting” down the mug…so cute!
Follow the directions on the DecoArt Glass Paint Marker for the drying time and how to cure the paint on the mug, so that you can enjoy your snowflakes for years to come.
So what to put in those adorable snowflake mugs? My family loves peppermint in the cooler months, and I absolutely love it when I can make something “semi-homemade” for them. So let me share with you our quick, easy and Semi-Homemade Peppermint Hot Chocolate…
Yum, right?
Here is how to make your own …
1. Pick your favorite hot chocolate mix and prepare it per the directions on the package.
2. Crush up peppermints. { I place some in a freezer bag and close it and then use a hammer to gently crush them }
3. Spread Marshmallow Fluff around the lip of the mug.
4. Sprinkle the crushed peppermints on top of the marshmallow fluff.
5. Sprinkle mini marshmallows in the mug with the hot chocolate.
That is it! A yummy combo of peppermint and chocolate. And it looks like you spent forever on it, but that is our little secret, ok. Semi-homemade is the way we role!

Love it! I did a craft show last weekend where I did nice big white cups with black writing, filled them with chocolate mix, peppermint sticks, kisses and marshmallows, then wrapped in cellophane and finished with a pretty black and white, diamond patterned bows on some and lime green polka dot bows on the others. I put ‘Scatter Kindness’ on some and drew a scattered dandelion , ‘Shine so people might see Him in you’ on some, and ‘just for you’ on the others. They went quickly! I love the idea of snowflakes, too! These would be nice co-worker gifts, sweet neighbor gift, teachers, dorm buddies….so many possibilities! Thanks for sharing! You are just full of unique great ideas!
P.S. I LOVE the DecoArt glass paint markers for writing on glassware! I used them in the sepia color last year for writing recipes on some old white plates I found at the church thrift store. My family and friends request my ‘ice box fruit cake’ every year so I decided I better write the recipe down for them so they can make their own, lol! This was a great gift, along with the fruitcake!
