Advent Calendar Ideas That Rock!
These Christmas countdown ideas are so incredibly fun. I love the season of advent and really enjoy spending that time teaching my kids all about the true meaning of Christmas. Advent calendars are such a good way to enjoy the spirit each and every day during the month of December. Today I am sharing my favorites!
Let’s see those awesome advent calendar ideas…

Okay…. first let’s talk about this fabulous board. I am in love. If you love this Christmas Countdown by Salvage Sister and Mister as much as I do, you are going to need to make one. If you don’t have time, I did see this burlap bulletin board that looks pretty similar and you can add the countdown to it.
Now let’s talk about all of the ideas you can do with this calendar! You could include bible verses or an activity for each day. I love the idea of breaking down the Christmas story each day or maybe even doing a season of giving for us all to participate in. The ideas are endless.
Muslin Bag Advent Calendar
One year I got super creative and sold these advent kits on ETSY. I took muslin bags like these and used my Big Shot to cut out felt numbers. I loved this project SO much!
This is another one of my very favorite advent ideas… the Dashing Through the Snow Advent Stocking from Balsam Hill. Isn’t she lovely? You can tuck tiny gifts in each pocket or wrap larger ones and put them in the stocking itself.
This is bold and fun and the jingle bell detail is precious!

Lego City 2017 Advent Calendar
Do your kids play with legos? This is an incredible idea for the little ones and they get to build while they wait for their favorite holiday to get here. This set is perfect for girls and boys alike and they will spend so much time with this set. It will be such a fun holiday tradition!

Christmas Book Advent Calendar
I absolutely love this idea by Natural Beach Living for the kiddos. Not only do they get to unwrap a gift each day, they have a chance to read a book about Christmas. Any way to encourage reading is okay by me and I can even sneak in a few valuable lessons by the choice of books.
Here are a few of our family’s favorite Christmas books…
- A Charlie Brown Christmas
- The Berenstein Bears and the Joy of Giving
- Llama Llama Jingle Bells
- The Christmas Story
- The Night Before Christmas
- Mooseltoe
- Search and Find The Night Before Christmas
