Sometimes you need just one special statement piece to accessorize an outfit. Sometimes you can find the perfect one, sometimes not. I tend toward the later, I get a vision of what I want in my head and then can not find it. Can anyone relate? Well, when I can not find it, I make it. I love creating my own accessories and enjoy wearing them even more. This Modern Geometric Painted Wooden Bangle is one of those… ” I can see it in my head and it is perfect, but I can’t find it anywhere”… items.
I admit it, I am a little giddy over this one. My teenage daughter and I may need to share it. The gorgeous combo of the soft grey/blue with the metallic gold is exactly the look I wanted. Wear this with simple gold hoops and you are good to go….simple and elegant.
Want to know how easy this was? I would call this an under 30 minute craft for sure. So let’s get started.
Supplies Needed for Painted Wooden Bangle…
- Unfinished Wooden Bangle {you can see a similar one here -affiliate link}
- Americana Decor Chalky Finish Paint in Vintage
- Americana Multi-Surface Metallic Acrylic Paint in Champagne
- Oversized straw or marker top
- Foam Paint Brush
- Americana Decor Soft-Touch Varnish
STEP ONE
Using the foam paint brush, cover the unfinished wooden bangle with the Vintage color Chalky Finish Paint. It only took one coat for me, this paint is thick and fabulous. Allow to dry fully.
STEP TWO
Now get creative! I used the end of an oversized straw to paint or “stamp” little circles all over the wooden bangle. You could also use the top of a marker to stamp with. I chose to be very geometric in my circle pattern. The gold color is amazing and looks almost like glitter against the Vintage Chalky Finish paint. The perfect, abstract, modern look I wanted. Allow the painted circles to dry fully.
You can see the fabulous glittery shine of the metallic paint. Also, see how I don’t have absolutely perfect circles? Yep, I am all good with that as well. I think it adds a bit of whimsy to the look.
STEP THREE
Ok, so I can not stress enough about finishing touches on projects. It is all in the details right? I coated the painted bangle with this Americana Decor Soft-Touch Varnish to protect the paint. It adds a non-shiny protective coating over the painted surface without changing the colors. Allow it to dry and you are ready to show off your latest design.
I plan on pairing my bangle up with a few, thin, simple, metal gold bracelets. The scarf is a perfect match too for spring, don’t you think? My daughter has called dibs, but I think we can work out a sharing arrangement.
If you have not tried the DecoArt paints, you are missing out. They are thick and stunning colors. Last month I create these fun Painted Wooden Corbel Bookends…
The versatility of the Chalky Finish Paints is extensive. Did you see my Wooden Server Tray I painted with it?
From jewelry to home decor, DecoArt products have you covered! So….what ya gonna paint?

Love your crafts. Can’t wait to paint the bowl and make some painted Easter eggs. Glad you made the instructions so easy. Pinned them so my friends can enjoy and make them too.
Thanks, Donna

This is such a great idea! Love it! Great idea to use the straw to stencil them. Followed from the Creative Collection 🙂
