Hello Trish, Bonnie and Uncommon Designs Readers!
Today is my final post as the Holiday Contributor at Uncommon Designs. It’s been such a thrill to visit with you all over the past few months and share some of my diy’s with you.
It’s been a real honor to team up with Bonnie and Trish too!! I’m thrilled to have met them last summer and can’t wait to meet them again, hopefully soon!
I hope you’ve enjoyed all of my past posts here! I have a real fun and low cost Holiday tutorial for you today!
The holiday’s are just around the corner and that means entertaining guests and gift giving!
Get ready for your Holiday Parties and make these as hostess gifts, teacher gifts, neighbour gifts or stocking stuffers!
DIY Christmas Drink Coasters:
This DIY was free for me since I had everything at home. You can find inexpensive square tiles at your local Habitat for Humanity Restore. I used black chalkboard paint as the base layer to cover up the tile color (since I had it at home) but you could use black or white primer too.
Supplies for DIY Christmas Drink Coasters:
Square tiles
Black Chalkboard Paint or black primer
Foam Brush
Small bristle brush
Mod Podge
Lyrics to ‘I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas’ (or your favorite Christmas carol!) printed off on regular white computer paper.
I printed off the song lyrics (in ‘Code Light’ Font size 24) from a Word Document I created. I love the style of this font!
( You can download Code Light Font for free!)
STEPS:
1. Cut each line of the song into strips of paper.
2. Paint each tile top and sides with two coats of Chalkboard paint using a foam brush.
3. Add a layer of Mod Podge to the top of each tile using the small bristle brush.
4. Apply each strip of lyrics to the top of the tile and overlap edge of paper around edge of tile.
5. Add strips of paper until tile is covered.
6. Seal with a coat of Mod Podge. Let Dry.
Easy peasy! I’m really enjoying using them to hold my cups of hot chocolate (of course topped with a little bit of whipped cream! Mmmm!)
Wrap 4 Coasters with some white (after all we are dreaming of a WHITE Christmas, right?) grosgrain ribbon to give as a gift!
Now I really am ‘Dreaming of a White Christmas’!
I’m Dreaming of a White Christmas:
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
With every Christmas card I write
May your days be merry and bright
And may all your Christmases be white
I’m dreaming of a white Christmas
Just like the ones I used to know
Where the treetops glisten and children listen
To hear sleigh bells in the snow
Will you be hosting any parties this Holiday Season?
