Hey there, I so excited to here today. My name is Lindsay, and I blog over at Southern Lovely.
I am the mom of three children who keep me really busy. Whenever I have ‘down’ time, which is usually pretty rare, I love to create things & feel a sense of accomplishment.

I’ve been wanting to do this little project for quite some time. Who am I kidding, it is definitely not a little project. I followed this tutorial on House of Smiths blog, and figured I could definitely do this on my own. And when I figured out that I had the same rug that was used in the tutorial, only a lot bigger, I was pretty happy about it!
I started with my Ikea rug, which we’ve had for over 4 years now. Funny side story about the rug, we had some work done at our house when we first moved in, and the guy accidentally spilled paint on this rug. We of course had it replaced with something different, but decided to still keep the rug that had paint on it, and move it upstairs where it could be hidden under the desk. And now 4 years later, I purposely spilled paint on the rug! Pretty funny, right?!

Anyway, here’s how I got started.
I taped around the rug, and painted it white. It took about 1/2 gallon
of paint to get it just right.
I then placed bricks around the edges, so it would lay flat.
Here’s the time consuming part–I hand taped the entire chevron pattern. It was frustrating & took A LONG time.
Once that was done, I was ready to paint. (Valspar Courtyard

And then came the fun part, taking off the tape to see how it turned out! There were a few places that needed some touch-ups, but other than that, it looked great!
What do you think?? I am pretty pleased with it!
Thanks Lindsay! You can find Lindsey and more of her fantastic projects on her blog, Southern Lovely!
