I am so excited to share our tabletop ribbon tree tutorial with you today! They are beautiful and can take you from now, right through the holidays { how great is that! }! The ribbon trees are so versatile, they can be made in any color combination or size you choose. Today we are showing you the tall, super shiny, and glittery tree in the middle!
Ribbon Tree Tutorial
Supplies Needed:
18″ styrofoam cone
10 yard roll of 2 inch wired ribbon
scissors
acorn finial cap and glitter
glue gun and lots of glue sticks!
The first thing that you want to do, is cut your ribbon strips. I cut mine about two inches long and alternate cuts. First, I cut straight and then I cut wavy, that way each piece looks similar to this and you don’t have to trim anything. Just go ahead and do the whole roll.
Once you get the feeling back in your fingers, you will start gluing on your strips {straight edge on top}. I like to put a little hot glue on the edge of the cone, just big enough for each piece. Continue going around until you have the first ring completed. If you have a smaller opening, just glue it on top of the other ribbons. Make sure they are all the same height!
Now you will move on to the next row. Just start about an inch up and complete the ring just like before. Continue until you are about 3 inches from the top. {See picture below}…
Here you want to go ahead and cover the top. Dab hot glue on the tip of the cone and place a piece of ribbon on top. You may want to glue it down on the sides a little, as well.
Finish gluing the ribbon around from where you left off before and go all the way to the top making sure to match the edge to the top of the cone.
Time to fluff the edges and get this looking like a tree! I start at the bottom and just pull each piece at the end to flip them up a little. No exact science here…just make it how you like it!
The final step is to glitter your acorn finial and glue it to the top of the tree. Now you are all done!
I’ll be back this weekend to show you more examples of these ribbon trees!! They are so elegant and make such a statement for the holidays!
