Simple Aprons and Thankful Treats!
This could easily sound like any other Sunday with a little sewing and making treats with the kids, but this time it was so much more!
Bonnie and I were given an amazing opportunity when we were chosen to work with World Market as part of their Passport To Style campaign with HGTV {be sure to check out the sweepstakes info at the end… you won’t want to miss it}. This was another one of those “pinch me now” moments for me… it is one of my absolute, favorite stores! To me, World Market is one store that has everything that I love most… beautiful textiles, yummy food, housewares, paper goods, jewelry, clothing, and holiday goodies galore! Seriously y’all, I could move in!!
Here was the tough part… deciding what to make. We had to come up with a DIY project to share with you guys and they have so much cool stuff, I had a really hard time choosing. After many many hours of ADD, I finally decided to stick with what I know best… pretty fabric, vibrant grosgrain ribbons, polka dots, baking, and my two favorite girls!
I decided to make the girls ultra-easy aprons and we would have an afternoon of baking cupcakes and packaging them up to show some of our favorite friends how thankful we are for them. I don’t know who was more excited… me or the girls?!
To make the aprons, all I needed was grosgrain ribbon and a bright kitchen towel. I chose two gorgeous towels from their kitchen textiles section. This is the easiest sewing project ever… simply measure how long you want the apron to be, make a casing by folding and ironing the top down, sew one line down the edge of the casing, and finally thread the ribbon through the casing. That is it!! Super, super easy! If you are looking for a great beginner sewing project… this one is great!
The girls just loved them and it was so much fun to see them twirling around and excited to have one of their very own aprons! Now to get them to cook all of the meals for me… hmmm.
Ann chose the orange medallion print with the green grosgrain ribbon. A more grown up choice for my beautiful baby who is eight going on twenty :). I really loved that it came with the orange pom pom fringe already adhered to the bottom… score!
Little La La loved hers that had the “buh-deez” on it and the fun floral ruffle. Such a little cutie!
Up next was baking ….
I chose the Sweet Potato Cupcake boxed mix to see if we could whip up a little something different and totally Fall. I love that all I had to do was add a little butter, eggs, water, and powdered sugar to the box mix for the cupcakes and maple frosting!
I had lots of help from my little baker, too! She loved filling up the muffin pans with the cupcake pen, too. Sweet little gadget if you haven’t used one yet. I think the pot holder was one of my favorite finds… isn’t that such a gorgeous print?! I also stocked up for holiday baking with a muffin pan and stackable cooling racks. I thought that they were all fantastically priced, too!
Now it was time for the decorating and packaging fun to begin…
The girls decorated their cupcakes with loads of Fall-colored sprinkles and mini marshmallows.
We packaged up our treats in thes.e fun take-out boxes.
A perfect Sunday afternoon. Just perfect!!

Those aprons are so cute! I adore World Market and never leave there empty handed. How were the cupcakes? I saw the mix when I was there but didn’t pick it up.

Don’t they have the best stuff?! I think I am going back this afternoon to pick a few things up for a party I’m throwing! The cupcakes were pretty good for a mix. The maple frosting was not my girls absolute favorite, but I thought it was yummy! Thanks for the kind words and for always being so sweet!
