It’s true. I love making cake toppers! Since baking cakes is not my specialty… it has become super important to make sure I can place something on top to make it look fabulous. I’ve made bat cake toppers, a mini-cake bunting and now I am going to show you how to make your own pom pom cake toppers!
A little yarn and a few wooden dowel sticks is all it takes to create this easy and super fun cake decoration!
Supplies needed to make your own pom pom cake toppers:
Step One: Gather all of your supplies and begin making the pom poms. The pom pom kit by Darice has three sizes of pom poms that you are able to make – I chose to make the medium sized ones. Make six poms of the same size according to the directions on the package. They do a fabulous job of instructing you know how to make them!
Step Two: I ended up making three pink poms, two of the plum, and one of the orchids. Make sure to trim away any stray strands of yarn.
Step Three: Now, you will attach the pom poms to the wooden dowel rods. I simply pushed the stick into the center of the pom pom. You may want to trim the ends of your dowels to allow for differing heights.
Step Four: Insert your cake toppers into the cake and you are done!
Super cute and unbelievably easy! Enjoy!
