Spring is in full swing here in the south. We are loving all the signs of spring…chirping birds, buds on trees, flowers poking through the ground. In celebration of spring, we created this adorable little DIY Doily Flower Votive Holder…
Is that not the cutest little thing! Pair it with our Burlap Covered Vase and you have a gorgeous tablescape. It was really simple to create and quite fast. You can make a few of these in no time. They would be perfect for your Spring table or just in your spring home décor.
Supplies needed to make your own DIY Doily Flower Votive Craft:
- Pineapple Doily 4inch White
- White Poured Wax Glass Votive
- Aleen’s Fabric Stiffener
- Faux Butterflies
- Plastic Gloves
- Plastic Wrap
Step One…
Place the doily into a small bowl. Pour the Aleen’s Fabric Stiffener on top of it. Put the plastic gloves on, and gently work the stiffener into the doily. Squeeze out the excess fabric stiffener.
Step Two…
Turn the votive upside down. Place some plastic wrap over the end of the votive, making sure it extends down a bit. Place the doily soaked in fabric stiffener over the plastic wrap. Press down firmly on the bottom of the votive to get the bottom of the doily flat. Gently press down the sides, leaving them extended a bit to get the flower petal look. As the doily dries { a couple of hours }, curl the edges of the doily a bit to get it to dry in the flower petal shape.
Step Three…
Once dry, the doily will be hard but light. Place the votive candle inside the doily. See how it looks like a sweet little flower? You could also use a faux tea light as well.
Step Four…
The final step is to simply attach the little butterfly to the side of the doily. These butterflies have a wire that you can use to attach them or you could use a hot glue gun as well. So sweet!
These doily flower spring votives were so simple to create I can see a cluster of these on my Spring table and then throughout the Summer.
So who’s ready for springtime and some warmer weather?

I think it’s Anthro {or some place similar} that has a gorgeous doily bowl I love. I’ve been wanting to make one with one of my vintage doilies. LOVE this idea!
