We are thrilled to have our entertaining contributor, Jennifer Carroll, back again this month with a gorgeous tablescape. This one combines beautiful elements of Burlap and Milk Glass…
If you’ve read my blog before you may have noticed I have an obsession with burlap. It is so versatile – it can be dressed up or down and goes with just about everything. On a recent trip to my local Goodwill thrift store I stumbled across a few random milk glass vases ranging in price from .55 cents to .95 cents and at that price, I was intrigued!
As I drove home I began pondering ways to play with my new milk glass finds and suddenly my ruffled burlap tablecloth popped into my mind and I knew the first project I wanted to do was create a simple but lovely Burlap & Milk Glass tablesetting, and here you have it!
I love the simplicity of this tablescape – plain white dinner plates (from Target), crisp white linen napkins with a bit of a lace trim (from my trip to Ireland last Fall), Natural Bamboo Lacquer Flatware (from Caspari), a piece of natural jute webbing wrapped as a napkin ring (from BurlapFabric.com) are neutrals that come together perfectly allowing the milk glass with fresh greens to shine!
Vintage linen cocktail napkins act as pretty coasters for the crystal glasses helping them to stand out a bit.
These glasses were another junk shop find and I adore them!
My hydrangea bush doesn’t have any blooms on it right now but happily the green leaves are gorgeous in their own right and are a perfect contrast to all the creamy neutrals on the table!
I really loved the cut work on a couple of the vases!
Do you ever use just leaves in your arrangements? These leaves are so interesting I think in the right setting they are better than any blooms could be! I hope this tablescape inspires you to think outside the box and create your own simple but inspired Burlap & Milk Glass tablescape!
Happy Celebrating!

Wow… two classics, they look smashing together!
Such a sweet table….I used to have tons and tons of milk glass handed down from my G’Ma until my sister(who was storing it for me) sold it in a garage sale….needless to say I didn’t talk to her for over a year! lol Yours is beautiful, treasure it
Beautiful! love Jennifer’s tablescapes and photography! I think the way she used the leaves from the hydrangeas is just genius and looks so lovely with the burlap and milk glass. Well Done!
Very pretty! Never thought of using burlap for a tablecloth, but this looks so fancy in a simple way…(if that makes sense!) I love it!
