Want to create a fun project that also captures a memory for a life time? Yea, me too! I adore anything with a monogram or a silhouette, call it being a girl raised in the south { GRITS }. So to capture a memory of my sweet girls, I decided to make a tote bag that is also a trick or treat bag. I combined it with one of my faves, silhouettes, to create these adorable Silhouette Trick or Treat Bags!
Silhouette Halloween Trick or Treat Tote Bags!
Adorable right? It not only captures my little LaLa’s profile but also a bit of her personality as well.
Let’s get started creating…
Supplies Needed for Silhouette Bags {affiliate links}…
- an 8.5 x 11 picture of your child looking straight on in front of a white background
- an 8.5 x 11 piece of Heat n’ Bond Ultra Hold Iron-On Adhesive
- an 8.5 x 11 piece of black fabric
- white canvas tote bag {similar one here }
- embellishments: ribbon, flowers, rhinestones, etc.
- iron, glue stick, and hot glue gun, and scissors
Step One…
You will first need to iron the Heat n’ Bond to the black fabric according to the package directions. Then, you will use your glue stick to attach the photo to the top of the Heat n’ Bond. Once it dries, you will simply cut along the silhouette of the picture.
Step Two…
Now you will peel the paper and fusible paper off and you should have only the fabric layer left with the clear adhesive layer attached. Flip it over and you have a beautiful silhouette. Keep in mind that if your child is looking in one direction for the photo, the final product will have them facing the opposite way!
Step Three…
Here is where the magic begins… take your plain tote bag and iron your silhouette on to the front according to the directions on the Heat n’ Bond. Now, add all of the embellishments your little heart desires! I hot glued the flower and ponytail ribbon! So easy and so fun!
I just love how it turned out!
Silhouettes are so classic and this one is something you can keep forever! This would also make for a fabulous no-sew pillow in the years to come! Nothing like a craft that can stand the test of time!

Super cute! I love that you made your own silhouette! I have a witch silhouette cut out on my piano, but I just found a sil. and a witch hat on the internet and welded them together before cutting with my machine 🙂 Personalized is better!

Trish this is so cute, I tried using heat and bond one time on a t-shirt and the first time I washed it, everything fell off. Any suggestions!

Hey Kelly! I use the heat’n bond ultra and haven’t had any trouble. I usually try to wash on a cold setting. This has worked fine for me with the ultra. Another brand that I had used in the past was horrible! Hope this helps!
