Recently, I have been busy having some major mom moments… realizing that my children are growing up faster than I can keep up with. My oldest daughter, Ann, will be graduating in a few weeks from elementary school and middle school on the horizon seems large and looming. So, in order to cope, I have been crafting and creating a space for my big girl. This week I whipped up a DIY wire memo board for her to display all of her tween stuff (sniff sniff).
This is my favorite kind of project… the type that you can start and finish in five minutes and that requires zero tools.
I picked up an unfinished wooden plaque from the craft store and a few things from the home improvement store. You will need two screw eyes and some mirror hanging cord.
Here is the fun part… construction. Mark two even spots on each end of the board and screw in the eye hooks. You don’t even need a drill, just screw it in! Then you will attach the wire by twisting on one end then stretching it to the other side and twisting the end of the wire. All done!
To hang your photos, you will need a clothespin! You may be noticing these awesome graduation announcements… yes they are from Shutterfly’s graduation collection. Don’t you just love them?! Decide to forgo the school’s ho hum invitation and design an announcement that is personalized and reflects your grad’s personality.
There are so many great options when it comes to choosing a graduation announcement. You can add your own photos from Instagram, use your school’s colors, even include popular foil stamped designs. There is even the option to choose between flat, 3/4 fold, or tri-fold invitations and different sizes, too! I love that there are 4×5, 5×5, 4×8, 5×7, and 6×8 sizes for every taste and budget. You can even include tons of pictures on the back with their option to design the back of the card.
My absolute favorite part of these announcements are the options for the trim. Being a creative and detail oriented gal, I love that you can choose between rounded corners, ticket trim, square trim, scallop trim, rounded trim, and bracket trim.
I love how the memo board turned out and Ann loves being able to hang all of her invitations and photos. This would make a perfect gift for your grad to take off to college, too!
Whether you are designing your own custom graduation invitation or making a memo board, I hope you enjoy all of those moments big and small. Enjoy!

Love this!! I would have totally hung one of those in my room and put my friends’ announcements and school pictures on it as a teenager! The announcements are gorgeous too…where were they when I was a grad?!
