I know, I hear ya… “Bonnie, it is only October!”. Give me a second to explain myself. See, actually Christmas will be here before you know it. It just has a way to sneak up on you. So if you are like me, and enjoy making some handmade Christmas gifts…well time to get started!
This gift idea is a perfect one for a teacher, hostess gift, or neighbor idea. It combines a bit of nature and celebrates the holiday season. I love natural looking ornaments and Christmas decorations and this one is just that. Let me show you how to create this simple Mini Pine Cone Kissing Ball Ornament…
Isn’t that sweet? Simple and elegant. I would love to receive one of these. You could actually put it out from fall through the holiday season. The best part is how easy it is to create. Let’s get started…
Supplies Needed:
1. 3 inch Floracraft Make It Fun Foam Ball
2. Jute Twine
3. Mini Pine Cones { these came from the floral department of my local craft store }
4. Low Temp Glue Gun

Step One: Use the end of a pencil to push a small hole in the top of the ball. Cut a piece of just twine and loop it over and tie a knot. Squeeze a bit of hot glue into the hole and insert the knotted end of the jute into it.
STEP TWO: Start adding the mini pine cones to the foam ball. Use a low temp glue gun to keep the foam from melting. I added mine in a circular pattern. Take your time and allow the glue to set as you move around.
That is it! Now at this point you could certainly add a bit of glitz with a dusting of gold or bronze glitter if you are more of a “bling” person. Either way would be beautiful. I think this might be a great gift idea for my teenagers to help with, to make for their teachers and our neighbors. A great little family bonding afternoon perhaps?
I enjoy crafting so much and when you can make something so beautiful and only have minimal supplies…..even better! I know I made this as a gift, but I see a few more of these on my tree to create a nature inspired Christmas tree this year. Oh the possibilities!
