I am proud to be a 3M- sponsored blogger, and, as part of my responsibilities, I get the opportunity to evaluate new products from ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape. Opinions are my own and additional product used in the project were selected by me.
John is so excited about his early Father’s Day gift… this striped workbench! I have to tell you that this is one of my favorite projects to date and it is all because of how quick and easy it was to create with this workbench from The Home Depot and ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape
For the most part, you have only seen me attack some smaller scale projects DIY projects, but not this time! I found an unfinished wood workbench that I was able to put together in less than five minutes. I even enlisted the help of little La La.
When all you have to do is open the box, unfold the legs, and insert the shelf… it wasn’t too tough a task for us. Now it was time for us to get it all gussied up!
I added a coat of stain to the workbench and then stained a few wooden crates for extra storage.
Next it was time to tape off the first stripe. I used a roll of ScotchBlue™ Painter’s Tape to mark where I wanted the middle stripe on the bench.
I carefully measured to make sure that I had the thick stripe centered and then layed the tape. I really was pleased with how easy the tape was to work with. It was very forgiving… a handy trait for this non-precise gal!
I added a few coats of a creamy white paint and waited patiently for it to dry. Oh my goodness… we were getting so excited!
Once the paint was dry, we lifted up the tape to find a perfect line… score! Next, I taped off two smaller stripes to acheive the look of ticking stripes.
I decided to take everything one step further and paint stripes on the crates. I simply lined up the tape on the bench with the tape on the crates to make sure that they would be even and then finished up with the paint.
It turned out to be the perfect decision… I loved it! The best part… my husband loved it, too!
I really love pulling into the garage and seeing that gorgeous work bench looking right at me. John may have to fight me for the workspace.

I would love that bench in the garage. Awesome way to spruce up a messy garage and make it look nice with just a simple bit of paint and tape. Love Blue Scotchtape, there are so many things to do with it. I love the crisp lines it gives.
